ICA Bangladesh 5 Year Vision

By the end of 2015 we will have:

1. A dedicated, well relating, self-initiating and self-responsible leadership team of men and women that demonstrates facilitative and cooperative leadership in all its activities and interactions and enjoys working together for the common good

2. About 100 engaged and connected members that apply the values and methods themselves for the benefit of themselves, communities and organisations and link up with the international network as best they can or desire

3. 500 people trained in ICA methods through public and in-house courses and many more people have been enabled to apply them through informal sessions and exposure to their use

4. A faculty of thirty people that is able to teach and apply the methods with various degrees of professional expertise and can be called on to participate in teaching, forums and consultancies as needed. Faculty members have supported each other in their professional development — through practice, open sharing, honest feedback and learning new methods to constantly improve their skills and effectiveness.

5. Raised sufficient money for our regular expenses, programs and activities through sponsorship and our own fundraising activities, especially our training and consulting

6. Clear governance systems and practices with a strong board and an aware general membership that ensures that the Board is elected (not appointed) annually and that major decisions are made at the AGM and in participatory ways all year long- based on consensus as much as possible. Both Board and members ensure full transparency and accountability of all systems and functions.

7. Effective overall coordination with a sparkling, simple yet well equipped and connected office and exemplary procedures for management and volunteer engagement, possibly supported by (full and/or part-time) staff.

8. Multiple partnership relationships with other ICA colleagues around the world, received and engaged overseas volunteers for projects, made our own financial contribution to the ICA International and participate in global dialogue and expanding care, sharing, responsibility and sustainability around the world.

9. Created mutually beneficial working relationships with several other NGO’s and organisations to cooperatively carry out projects with increased effectiveness and possibly run a training and/or research and meeting centre alone or with others.

10. Creatively and truthfully documented the story, history, values, methods and activities of the ICA in Bangladesh and beyond through inspiring and widely distributed audiovisuals. We have created and updated attractive brochures and annual reports and got support from many individuals and business people.

11. Supported various projects in poor communities -in Dhaka city, towns and rural areas– that invited us to help them make plans for their own development and that we train and coach for successful fundraising and project implementation

12. Gained the trust of several funding bodies in Bangladesh and worldwide through having implemented transparent financial and other systems of implementation in our own organisation and the projects we are working with

13. Carried out research and forums, published and distributed knowledge or information relevant to ICA mission and Bangladeshi society – such as in support of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG)- that build on the skills and interests of the members and use participatory methods and engagement tools and make an impact on the larger society
