Training on Group Facilitation Methods

Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) Bangladesh is very pleased to announce its March 2011 training courses. This upcoming training program will train participants in methods called the Technology of Participation (ToP) developed by the ICA around the world and are recommended by many organizations in all sectors in more than 100 countries. ICA methods are based on decades of cross-cultural research into human patterns of perception and experience. The approaches are highly effective for both community and organizational development.

The time you would need to invest is March 1 to 2, 2011. If you are interested in becoming a ToP Facilitator/Trainer/Planner, or even if you wish to develop further your knowledge and skill in ICA methods, we strongly urge you to seriously consider being a participant at this up-coming training program. ICA Bangladesh is a unique organization engaged in training, facilitation and community development. It is a member of ICA International. Staff and members particularly focus on teaching and applying the methods of the ToP for urban and rural development as well as in the business, government and community sectors. It has a huge pool of professional and certified facilitators. The faculty for the March 2011 courses in Bangladesh will include Maria Maguire and Richard Maguire from ICA Australia and Unfolding Futures Limited, Australia.

The Technology of Participation © provides a structured approach to facilitation. ToP comprises two basic group facilitation methods and a system of processes for planning and organizing. The basic two-day course, called “Group Facilitation” includes focused conversation (ORID), Consensus Workshop and Action Planning, along with some other contextual and application stuff. Apart from a few brief presentations it mostly encompasses methods demonstration, reflection, exploration, preparation and practice. It is very full and tight time-wise with an extensive manual. The course focuses on the type of thing people are most interested in, such as community facilitation, village development or organizational planning. Note that ICA is a charitable organization and its subsidized training courses are geared toward facilitative leadership development in communities and organizations applying ICA approaches in Bangladesh.
We also offer planning, consulting, and in-house training services for an organization, be they NGO (local, national or international), government department/agency or company/business. We could offer these services all the year round tailoring to the client needs.

The deadline for registration is February 25, 2011. To register click Registration
