Dhaka Institute
of Cultural Affairs is the national ICA in Bangladesh, shortly addressed as ICA
Bangladesh. It is a not-for-profit, non-government and autonomous organization established
as a chapter organization of ICA International (ICAI) headquartered in Brussels,
Belgium currently relocated to Montreal, Canada.
Dhaka ICA is a registered member of ICA International.
ICA International has Category II Consultative Status with United Nations Economic
and Social Council, Liaison Status with FAO, Working Relation Status with WHO, and
Consultative Status with UNICEF. It is a member of CIVICUS and has served
on the NGO Consultative Group of IFAD.
Dhaka Institute
of Cultural Affairs is registered to the Government of the People’s Republic of
Bangladesh by the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms, Ministry of Finance
under the Societies Registration Act 1860. It has already applied for registration
under the Foreign Donations (Voluntary Activities) Act and it will be one of the
enlisted NGO of the Bureau of NGO Affairs of the Government of Bangladesh.
Facilitation, training, and community empowerment are
main focus of ICA work worldwide.
The ICA has, for over 35 years, been developing a set of participatory methods called
the Technology of Participation (ToP) which can be used in any
group setting to create group solutions and facilitate strategic planning
Dhaka ICA wishes to bring about substantial changes in the lives of millions of
poor in Bangladesh applying ICA’s philosophy such as lifelong learning, participation
and sustainable development in the field of training, facilitation, research and
community development.
